Youth Services will be sponsoring one program for Portland Children for out of school time care. Kids Blast based at Brownstone School offers a Before School Program, a morning kindergarten program and after noon kindergarten program and an after school program.

Offers a warm, supportive, and trusting environment. Counseling services are private and confidential. Resource Center Therapist is specially trained in Marital Therapy, Family Therapy, and Individual Models of therapy to help you address and resolve difficulties that you may be experiencing. The Time for Tots program is held every Monday from 9:30 to 11:00 at the Youth Services office 265 Main St. The program is for children 0 to 5 and their caregivers (mothers, fathers, grandparents or daycare providers.) It is an interactive program where caregivers come and stay with their children. During the program time there are scheduled weekly events such as crafts, painting, story time etc. This is a great program to meet new people and have your children play with children their own age. There is no charge for the program.

For Middle School age Students meets afterschool every other Monday with Prevention Coordinator Peggy Chesanek Stratton. Community outreach projects and positive youth development activities are planned on a monthly basis. Programs and projects to be announced. This program is funded through a Healthy Community, Healthy Youth Grant from the Middlesex United Way.

The Council is a group of parents and professionals committed to making sure Portland’s children are ready to enter kindergarten. Work of the Council includes Parent Education, Professional Development programs, Early Childhood Resources and Networking. The Councils Goal is to expand Early Childhood Activities working with local organizations and other town departments for children and families in the area.

PECC – Evening Playgroup – Parents with children 5 and under are invited to join this informal playgroup. This meets Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Youth Services Office 265 Main St. Time will be dedicated each week for children to enjoy free play, music, story times, snacks and more. Children must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
PECC – Little Hikers Club – PECC, Youth Services and Parks and Recreation are teaming up to offer an exciting opportunity for youth children and their families (older siblings welcome) to hike Portland trails with a guide. Hikes will be One Saturday a Month to a predetermined trail. First Hike is scheduled for April 17th at 2:00.
